Well, I'm into the last month of this crazy adventure in Central America. It's going to be hard leaving all these awesome people setting out to do awesome things... and all these gorgeous kids who let me do colorful wonderful art projects with them during the week.

My parents came to visit this past week; their trip was really really great- snorkeling, caves, salbutes, panades, and oat juice. My mother brought with her my acceptance letter to University of Wisconsin. Yay, but now what? After such an enormously grand experience, It's too hard to focus on what comes next...

but anyway, I'm going to have to invest in some sweaters when I get home, regardless.

so I've been teaching a couple art classes in the schools here in Belize, and boy do I like it. You know what else I like, is that people here cut their grass with a machete. like, how fantastic is that... also that I can walk 2 minutes in any direction and find fresh warm tortillas. Furthermore I've met the most humble and glorious and brilliant human, Heriberto the medicine man. A few of us have been helping him keep up his trails, and in return he graces us with his words and presence. i like that, too.

i even like my classes. i know, i know...

Well, today is my first day of school here in Belize. I took a picture of all my friends boarding the school bus with me- many smiles. The bus had to stop for some horses crossing the street.

There are mango trees outside the window. The sunsets are gorgeous. We had an orientation on a roof top. The little girl in my homestay family likes to hold my hand.

On Saturday we painted an old school building. A woman from the village, holding hands with her gorgeous thumb-sucking child, came and brought us the most delicious homemade cake I've ever eaten.

It is unbelievably fantastic here.

First and foremost, Obama. :]

I'm thinking less addiction to facebook/dA and more outside exploring.

More greeting each day with smiles and curiosity.

The news! In just a few days, I'm flying out to Belize. To learn, to meet people, to hopefully do some good. It has me excited in a skin-popping-grin-explosion sort of way.

I hope everyone has celebrated their holiday seasons in fantastic ways, and that the year brings much love and happiness.
